Earth Week Plus Film: Deep Rising

Cheboygan’s Earth Week Plus series of events includes a FREE showing of “Deep Rising” on the Opera House movie screen. Doors will open at 1:30 and seating is first come, first served.

DEEP RISING is a new, feature-length documentary that explores the urgent threats posed to the ocean by global corporations and organizations who want to mine the deep seabed for materials (metals) and profit.

The film investigates how a demand for finite metals is driving the potential destruction of the world’s last pristine wilderness – the deep ocean which plays a critical key role in slowing climate change. Disturbing these vital ecosystems could cause catastrophic consequences.
