Cheboygan is the proud home of the USCGC Mackinaw, and we are excited to promote the upcoming Community Day at the Cutter Mackinaw. During Community Day, the public will have a rare opportunity to tour the working Coast Guard ship, Mackinaw (WLBB 30), stationed in Cheboygan on the Cheboygan River.
Meet the Coast Guard service members who help keep our country safe, break ice to keep shipping lanes open, do search and rescue missions, and take care of navigational aids and buoys throughout the Great Lakes. Learn about the Coast Guard, and the service members who transfer in and out of Cheboygan every 2-3 years. Hear stories about their previous stations, and the varied coastal waters they have patrolled. See line-throwing demonstrations and more.
Learn about the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and how they support the Coast Guard mission. Civilians are encouraged to join. No boat is required.
See the Cheboygan police and fire support teams, with information and demonstrations for visitors.
